Seagate Barracuda Matching Guide
Seagate Barracuda XT / ES.2 drives have unique firmwares loaded onto their circuits boards.
This means boards are never compatible with each other automatically, even if they both have identical specifications on the label of the drive.
To make two boards compatible. the firmware of one board has to be copied to the other. This requires either special equipment to access the firmware directly, or soldering.
So the first question is:
Can you solder and de-solder an 8-pinned ROM chip?
